SUMMER 2009

Two sessions:

SESSION A:
JUNE 22 - JUNE 26

SESSION B:
JUNE 29 - JULY 3

East Valley String Workshop is the creative idea of Harry Fisher,  Marilyn Daggett, and other experienced music teachers with over 100 combined years of teaching strings to young people. It is designed to offer students a place to refine their technical skills and play in ensembles while sharing fun and community with string-playing peers outside of the regular music classroom.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
East Valley String Workshop Summer 2009 sessions are  designed for
students ages 11 through 14 who have had at least one year of string instruction and who can read music. Each student must provide his or her own instrument, music stand, and a current lesson book (where appropriate). Students may attend either one session or both. Public school, charter school and homeschooled students who fulfill these requirements are welcome and encouraged to attend.

THE PROGRAM:
Our program is unique: all students will participate DAILY in technique classes for their instrument (violin, viola, cello or bass), in a sectional rehearsal and in an  orchestra ensemble. On the last day of each session, Friday, all students will participate in an  orchestra performance open to their family and friends.

OUR TEACHERS:
East Valley String Workshops teachers are professional certified string specialists who each have had at least 20 years experience  teaching young people.

DATES & TIMES:
Students may choose between two sessions: Session A: June 22 - June 26 or Session B: June 29 - July 3. Sessions run from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, Monday through   Friday. (We will be meeting on Friday, July 3.)

LOCATION:
East Valley String Workshops will be conducted at Arizona Community Church, 9325 S. Rural Road, Tempe, AZ., right next to Corona Del Sol High School.

FEES:
Tuition for each session is $150.00 per week; after June 10 tuition is $175 per week.  Payment includes instructional materials, a souvenir T-Shirt and insurance coverage for each attendee. Fees cannot be refunded or pro-rated for time missed.

BASIC POLICIES:
Students are expected to be prompt, stay until the end of each day and attend all five days of a session. Every student is responsible for maintaining proper conduct, dressing in a manner appropriate for a church facility, and following workshop regulations. Serious breaches of rules will result in dismissal at the Board’s discretion, without refund.
